Chinese "Internet Addiction" Scapegoat

Progress is still a long way off in China. The Communists are pocketing the worlds' money by hurting its own people. Further, no one can compete with slave labor, so American businesses, among other nations, have no choice but to fold or seek Chinese labor themselves. All the while, our governments allow this to occur, trade operating in the red. Illegal trade. The "invisible hand," does not rectify the problems. Don't misunderstand me, however, I don't champion government getting involved much in business. But our governments can institute better human rights requirements before accepting contracts, establishing a floor at least, before even thinking about working with our market.

Let me get into the real reason for this post: Stupid programs are being instituted, like electric shock therapy for so-called "Internet addicts." Found this story today:

Now Electric Shock For Internet Addicts In China

Daxing, China (AHN) - In a treatment that equates Internet addicts to mentally ill people, China is giving electric shocks to people who spend more time on the Internet than required. The Chinese government has launched a nationwide campaign to treat "Internet addiction" and many Internet-addiction clinics have been opened in this regard.

A recent survey found that nearly 14 percent of teens in China are vulnerable to becoming addicted to the Internet. The Communist Youth League calls it a "a grave social problem" that threatens the youth of this Asian country.

According to the Washington Post, one such clinic in Daxing, a suburb of Beijing, the capital, is the oldest and largest and is located on an army training base. It has 60 patients on a normal day and as many as 280 during peak periods.

The age group of the patients range from 12 to 24, who have been forced to come by their parents and are paying upward of $1,300 a month. It is almost 10 times the average salary in China for the treatment.

China in recent months has joined South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam in taking measures to try to limit the time teens spend online and also passed regulations banning youths from Internet cafes.

The country has also gone to the extent of implementing control programs that logs teens off networked games after five hours. The Communist government has limited programs for Web access and also censors sites to seek online control.

The "addicts" are treated by counseling, military discipline, drugs, hypnosis and mild electric shocks. The clinic also has metal grates and padlocks on every door and bars on every window.

Okay. The obvious question is why? The REAL reason the communists have started controlling peoples' use of the Internet is this: fear. China is afraid that the Internet will allow its people to acquire truth. Even if Google is in bed with communists. China is afraid that their people, especially the young, will find out what the government is really doing to their people. About the news that doesn't get broadcast over government-controlled radio and television. Sickening how the "Youth league" kids are acting like Nazi's, turning in their own. Even the parents are allowing their kids to undergo electric shock, drugs, hypnosis, and "military discipline." But this is minor compared to horror stories that occur daily in China.

And yet China is hosting the world Olympics next year? What a joke.

In 2008: Hillary vs. Romney?

2008 will be here in no time. I've been disappointed with who has surfaced. As a conservative, I can't feel good, in the least bit, about Hillary Clinton. Though I hope she gets the Democratic nomination so she loses. She is unelectable, thank goodness. Another Clinton in the White House? No thank you.

About that. Let me just say that her husband courting the Chinese into the WTO was a horrible mistake. Now we have businesses around the world that can't compete fairly. The likes of Wal-Mart and Target and everything in between now rely on the illegal trade "agreements" that the Communist government uses to bait the rest of the world. But that is an issue for another day.

Back to Hillary.

Her record in NY is shameful. Not to mention she is as cold as ice. I don't care if you have her sitting in a mock living room as though she is someone to cozy up to. Forget it. Who wants to cozy up to a snake in the grass? Her policy is this: complete socialism.

Obama is right in step with her. The two of them would form a scary ticket. Clinton/Obama 2008. Most Americans don't care Obama is Black. They don't care Hillary is a woman. What they do care about is the fact that they BOTH are secular humanists. Marxists to the core. Blah.

It is sad, but the truth is that *most* of the Democratic party would prefer welfare-state controls. Now look across the aisle and it doesn't get that much better. Under Bush, government has grown tremendously, so the Republicans can't call themselves conservatives with a straight face. Moreover, they spend like crazy, and the U.S. Dollar means practically nothing. Just print more money. That's the solution, right? Wrong. Don't get me started on the greed and corporate scandals issue. It exists in both parties and can be summed up by the lack of integrity that is evident in office.

Giuliani is likable. The kind of guy you want sitting with you at baseball game. Not the type you want running America, however.

He's the kind of pal that you need when the weekend is dry. Just call up Rudy and he'll think of something entertaining. No, we don't need him in the highest office of the Land. His views on social issues are pathetic. Once he's in office, count on him partnering with the gay lobby, doing nothing about abortion, etc. No, Rudy, you will do more harm than good for America. He's just like that uncle everyone has a blast with, but you'd never call to babysit you kids.

Then there's McCain. He can't be trusted. No matter how hard I try, I can't quite look at him and see who he really is. Sure, he's a veteran, and that counts a whole lot in my book. But he's used his pre-soldier status for political gain more than anything else, and this is really clear. That snow cap of his doesn't come off as harmless or with any hint at acquired wisdom either.

The guy just makes me squirm a bit. With Rudy, at least you know he's NOT a social conservative (so he's got zero chance at winning). With McCain, I think it is pretty clear he is not too concerned with what matters most to the majority of Americans: quality of life issues, family values issues. The core of America: God. Family. Country. McCain may "get it", but he doesn't believe in these things and I think the American people see through him.

He's the kind of guy you'd expect to see at a table in a dark room, surrounded by a bunch of hustlers, with cigar smoke in the air. Can't you just imagine him pandering? Working his angle? That's what McCain has been doing for his political career. Positioning himself to this point.

There ARE other candidates on both sides. But you will never hear of them. They will never get in on the debates. Guys like Hunter, "Huckleberry," and a host of others that no one will ever get the fair chance of choosing from. Guys that are more statesmen than politician. Guys that really do have good intentions. But it's a sad truth that our political system has diminished to a point that it is so narrow with regard to exposure.

Still, the only Republican candidate that raises my eyebrow a bit is Romney. He's rocketed to the top three spot in a short amount of time and that is saying something.

Mitt Romney's biggest problem is his political past. I for one, am a skeptic, and I just don't know if I can down his conversion story. Was more of a moderate, now a complete conservative. Maybe. Maybe not. His private life is admirable and I believe he is a family man. His record in business and management is stellar (and we definitely need someone competent for a change).

Romney is definitely likable, borderline corny, but likable. He's very articulate. It's unfortunate that his identity has been, at least from the beginning, primarily about his Mormonism. I don't buy the media's interpretation of the so-called "Mormon problem." Being a Mormon is a minimal issue in this race.

About that. I believe that what, in reality, is the real problem, in the eyes of the media and liberal Americans, is faith in general. They could care less that Romney is a Mormon, a Baptist, a Catholic, etc. They can't swallow that whole "God" thing. Period. The mainstream media is filled with bigots in that way. Instead, they project their own feelings onto Evangelicals, who become the scapegoat. So now the issue is, "Southern Evangelicals have a problem with Mormonism." Hurry, everyone tag along with that.

Yeah, some of them do. But nothing extraordinary. Just like some of the deep South probably have a problem with Obama being black. So what? Where's all the buzz about Obama maybe losing votes in the South due to his race? Where are all the stories about "A Black President?" Very few exist. But there are a ton of "Mormon" articles.

To set it straight. Mitt Romney doesn't have to worry much about the Mormon issue. He's got a Media issue. They are bigots. Romney's sole concern is trying to CONVINCE true conservatives that he is one of us. Unless a really impressive, dark horse candidate comes out of nowhere, Romney has a lot of things going for him and may be the strongest conservative candidate who has any hope of winning the White House.

America is in the Emergency Room. It needs help immediately. Dark horse, are you out there?

ndpoli.com is born

Welcome. What is ndpoli? It means Independent Politics. You won't find a lot of spin here. This site is managed by one person, and is the result of me becoming completely ill over the state of America. As the name suggests, I am neither Republican or Democrat. I'm a registered Independent. Not because the Independents out there are somehow more superior than other parties (frankly, by some accounts, being an Independent means you are without a value system). But this is not the case with me. I vote principle, not party.

Today, Republicans and Democrats are essentially the same party. They vary only by degree. This blog vocalizes my frustration over this. I feel there a lot of anger rising up all over this country. Millions of Americans made their voices heard when President Bush appointed the wrong candidate for the Supreme Court. Many more made it known when our ports were to be sold to foreign powers. There is such a backlash, that many voted against longtime encumbents simply to voice this disastisfaction. No, the Democrats did not recieve some mandate. The American people were sending a message that they were sick of broken promises. Sick of watching our goverment represent themselves instead of the People.

Yes millions of Americans are angry. About what? About how America is nearly a complete socialist nation. About how, at one time, coming here legally meant something. About the fact that hard work and innovation were once truely American ideals. About how God and family were once honored. For far too long now, America has fallen from glory in the eyes of the world, and sadly, in the eyes of many of its citizens. Today there permeates a secular humanism that hearkens only to relativist thinking and grey area. But many Americans desire a Nation returning to greatness. I consider myself in that group.

Some call this view conservative. Others term it as within a nationalist, or Constitutionalist perspective. This is largely a correct assumption. But I won't be pigeon-holed into a present-day political category, with a crowd of warped right-wingers who, in reality, know very little about true American values. Here I will share MY views.

This blog will act as something of a soundboard, you may leave comments or none. I may or may not be active in responding. I will not put much of my personal life out here, as this is not the proper forum. But I will divulge a few basics: I've traveled quite a great deal. I am approaching 30 years old, am a college grad, with an upbringing in a somewhat faith-based family. Probably the most important characteristic is this: I love America. In all my travels and in everything I've experienced and come to understand, this Nation is my home. It is uniquely special.

We are entering a time in politics, a time in the history of the world where we face many challenges and opportunities. America must return to its founding if it hopes to survive in the capacity and form intended.

This is ndpoli.
